PPG Update – May 2019

As this is the first Patient Participation Group (PPG) update delivered in this format I intend to go back to when I joined in 2014. Starting with a little info about our group and the aims of the PPG. The PPG is the forum for patients’ to voice.

In 2014-2017 our group was larger.  Our losses have mainly been due to our members change of circumstances as with most groups.  However, we are still at a workable level with actual recruitment in progress.  We now have a notice board just as you enter the surgery.  If you have time please check out the information attached.

PPG’s are groups of patients and practice staff who meet regularly approximately four times a year to try and improve the quality of care and outcomes of patients.

Although we only have four face to face meetings tasks are being tackles by members through the year.  This greater involvement is only for those that wish.

As an example I and another group member have been busy sourcing a PPG poster, arranging for a board and material needed.  Still things to complete but we are getting there.

A questionnaire produced by the PPG will be circulated to patients very soon.  By competing this you are enabling staff to have a greater understanding of what you the patient wants/expects from your GP Practice.

Also you will see on our notice board a list of clubs and friendship groups.  Interesting and informative things to do but also try and combat the awful loneliness some people suffer.  Please ask at reception if you wish to take a copy home.

The West Street Surgery booklet and Newsletter were published as a direct result of PPG involvement.

As mentioned we are actively looking for new members to come and join our group.  Should you wish to find out more as Chair of West Street Surgery PPG I will gladly meet up and answer any questions you may have.  Just leave your name and number with the reception staff.

Hope to hear from you soon.
