From 1st August 2019, West Street Surgery will close for lunch between 1pm and 2pm everyday. There will still an urgent service available. Please call the main surgery number 01582 664401 should you need urgent NHS help or support during these times. 
 
 
 
 
Booking an Appointment 
You can book your appointment up to 6 weeks in advance. Booking ahead increases your chance of seeing the doctor or nurse of your choice. Check online or phone for details. We offer text reminders for booked appointments. If you are unwell, and need an urgent appointment, please telephone as early as possible. Each day we reserve some appointments for urgent problems which cannot wait. If you need an urgent appointment please be prepared to give our receptionists some information to assess the level of urgency. For more information please go to ‘How Do I’ tab. 
 
Prescriptions 
Please allow 2 working days after the day you requested it and before collecting from either the Surgery or Pharmacy, this service is applies to both electronic and paper prescriptions. 
 
Should you Require a Prescription Urgently 
Definition: Only when there is a clinical need, i.e. that the medication must be taken with no days missing will a prescription be generated. Prescriptions cannot be collected from the Surgery or pharmacy before 4pm. 
 
Sick Notes (Fit Notes) 
There is never a charge from a doctor for providing a fit note if your are off sick for MORE than seven days. For sickness of seven days or LESS, the GP may change you to provide a private medical certificate. Anyone can access information on work-related health issues on the Fit for work website 
Book & Cancel an On-line appointment 
We have an online booking facility . 
If you have not already registered for on-line access, you can do this online. Your user ID will usually be available within 4 days. 
Please bring photo identification (passport or driving licence) to the Surgery when you attend to collect your user log in details. 
Once registered for on-line services you can:

amend your contact details 
request repeat prescriptions 
 
Travel Vaccinations 
We offer a travel service, but have limited appointments. Please book in plenty of time - at least 6 weeks before you travel. If your intended date of travel is in less than 6 weeks, you should contact a travel clinic: eg Hemel Hempstead on 01442 236733 or Leighton Buzzard on 01525 372571.
