You can request repeat prescriptions without the need to always see a doctor. Your GP will decide how many prescriptions to authorise before asking to see you again.
Ordering repeat prescriptions
The easiest ways to order repeat prescriptions are:
- using your NHS account (through the NHS website or in the NHS App)
- using the GP online system: SystmOnline
These accounts show you all your repeat medicine and dosage and you can choose the ones you need.
You can also:
- fill out a repeat prescriptions request form
- visit the surgery in person, please use the white side portion of your last prescription, carefully mark the items required and drop it in to the surgery
- post your request to the surgery, please enclose a stamped addressed envelope if you want us to post it back to you
- speak with your local pharmacy, some pharmacies will order repeat medication on your behalf. You will need to check with your pharmacy if they offer this service
We do not take repeat prescription requests over the phone as this can lead to mistakes. They are also not a medical emergency, and you should allow two working days for it to be processed.
Collecting your prescription
You can usually collect your prescription 2 working days after you have ordered it.
You will need to choose a pharmacy to collect your prescription from. We call this nominating a pharmacy.
You can change your nominated pharmacy at any time:
- on the app or website where you order repeat prescriptions
- fill out a nominate a pharmacy form
- at any pharmacy that accepts repeat prescriptions
If you are housebound, all of the local pharmacies in Dunstable offer a collection and delivery service. They also offer a dosette box service. These additional services may incur a charge.
