Our Website

We have just launched our new updated website. The content is the same; but it’s like a supermarket when they change the aisles, you may have to search about. The Accurx button is on longer green but it is still there on the home screen, along with links to the rest of our well used pages.

NHS App

Have you got the NHS App? The App lets you order repeat prescriptions, view your GP medical record, quickly check symptoms, book, cancel and track appointments with ease. Our messaging system will soon be linked with the App so it will all be in one place. Over 70% of our patients have the App. It’s free and owned by the NHS so you know your personal data is always secure. You can find it in in Google and Apple app stores. Your NHS, your way. The Telephone Queue

We are always trying to improve access. This week we added a new feature to our phone system when you call the surgery. For non-urgent appointments, prescription requests, and all other admin queries why not use the Accurx form and save time. If you have a smart phone you can simply press one and a link to our online contact form will be texted to your phone. Since it’s launch on the 9th December we have noticed a real difference to queue numbers, and more people are able to get through on the phones with reduced waiting times. Please can you can I ask all patients with non-urgent requests to consider this option when they call the surgery.

GaitSmart

Transforming Mobility with GaitSmart.

We are thrilled to share the incredible progress our patients have achieved with GaitSmart; the walking sensor analysis test. Over 200 tests (50+ patients) have been completed the program, and the results speak for themselves.

There has been on average, an 8% improvement in walking speed and enhanced hip and knee function in those patients that completed the four tests and personalised exercise program (over 12 weeks), empowering them to walk with greater ease and confidence.

GaitSmart’s tailored approach helps to identify movement issues and generates a targeted exercise program with a series of gentle exercises to help restore function and mobility. It’s more than just a walking test and an exercise program, it’s a step forward for a better quality of life and a preventative approach to health care, which aims to make significant savings by reducing the need for future treatments.

Mental Health Awareness

Supporting the mental health needs of our patients is one of our top priorities. We have a dedicated Mental Health Nurse who sees patients face to face in the surgery and our social prescriber, health and wellbeing coach and care coordinators are dedicated to supporting our patients whatever their needs. Our ShinyMinds programme was a huge success and patients are still being offered ShinyMind prescriptions to support their health and wellbeing.

West Street Surgery also runs a number of menta health awareness days, keep an eye on our events page.
